In "Observation" Brent Godfrey incorporates over thirty years of painting skills to explore looking and seeing. His work highlights the rewards of thoughtful observation through presenting subjects that, at first glance, seem posed then open to reveal secrets. His figures reside within complex historical moments, staged on mental landscapes or housed in blurring memories. They invite us to look until we see, pause until we feel, think until we expand.
Raised in Roy, Utah, Brent Godfrey graduated with a bachelor or arts from Weber State University followed by a master's degree from Brigham Young and post graduate painting studies in Italy, at the University of Utah and in Taos. He has participated in international, regional and local museum and gallery exhibitions and mounted significant solo shows. His paintings are in numerous private and public collections, have garnered awards and been published broadly.
